MANY THERAPIES

Pain Reduction

As one of our many pain reducing therapies we offer Interferential Current. Interferential is a treatment to aid the relief of pain and the promotion of soft-tissue healing. Tiny electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the area of the pain. Where these waves intersect below the surface of the skin, the low-frequency stimulation induces the body to secrete endorphins, which are the body's natural pain-killers. Most patients find interferential therapy to be very beneficial and describe the treatment as being relaxing and having a 'pins and needles' sensation. Ligament sprains, muscle strains and spasms often respond well to interferential current therapy

Sports/ Kinesio Taping

Kinesio taping techniques offer patients a more gentle approach to rehabilitation than those provided by conventional athletic tapes. Positive feedback from the 2008 Games in Beijing has made a large demand for the practice. We here at Austin Spine and Therapy would like to invite you to experience what people around the world are calling the rehabilitative and enhancement tool. It works by supporting muscles, removing congestion (swelling), correcting joint problems, and activates the endogenous analgesic system (reducing pain). All of the following functions allow the success of treatment, training and rehabilitation.

Adjustments: Gentle Technique

Chiropractic is based on restriction of movement in the spine (or extremities) that may lead to pain and reduced function. An adjustment (manipulation) is one form of therapy chiropractors use to treat restricted mobility of bones. The goal is to restore movement and, as a result, improve function and decrease pain. A good way to think of it is that we are in a constant battle with gravity. Gravity wants to compress down on our bodies, and that in turn leads to a decrese in our joint spaces. A Doctor of Chiropractic opens the joint space that allows fluid to flow back into the space and provides a cushion for our bodies.

Manual Therapy

Muscle weakness and lack of tissue elasticity are major causes of chronic pain and disability in patients. Using Manual Tools and Techniques these conditions can now be treated conservatively and effectively. The key to it's success is that its therapeutic techniques can aid in the body’s natural healing process. It does this by being able to:
o Initiate an inflammatory process
o Break down scar tissue
o Redirect collagen formation
Dr. Griffin's treatment protocols ensure that these healing processes occur naturally and effectively.

Rehabilitation

We take an individual approach to rehabilitation by tailoring your program to your personal needs. We work directly in a 3800 sq ft gym to get you out of pain and improve your outcome.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic Ultrasound is a method of stimulating tissue beneath the skin's surface using sound waves. It is a very high frequency massage that can penetrate up to 5" below the surface of your skin.
The heating and massaging effects of Therapeutic Ultrasound have 3 primary benefits:
· Ultrasound therapy increases blood flow in the treated area which speeds the healing process.
· Ultrasound Therapy reduces swelling and edema which are the main sources of pain.
· Ultrasound waves gently massage the muscles, tendons and/or ligaments in the treated area. This enhances the recovery rate of damaged tissue without adding strain, and softens any scar tissue that is usually present in an injured area.
